TOSMI organized a Trainer Workshop at Thessaloniki. There trainers agreed on new details for the separate courses. Here are the updates shortly.
Media For The Web is moving to Joomla. The course actually covers a variety of CMS'es, but Joomla has the advantage that it delivers a fully-functioning site right after the installation. Last year we used Drupal, which, although very powerful, is more complicated to manage. There are many online comparisons and analyses of the two systems, outlining that Joomla is more flexible in the short term, while Drupal would be a more strategic choice. Also take a peek into an introductory presentation from last year.
Traditionally the Blender Basics course covers the entire production pipeline of a short video with 3D animation. This year it will also feature character animation.
Game Art Design will be about cel shaded games and virtual worlds. It seems most of us here at TOSMI are bored of photorealism. Also Blender is a perfect tool for level editing and rapid game development. Since it is open source, it is very flexible to adapt to other formats and engines. There are already in development many export scripts, at various degree of completeness for various games, engines and standards.
