TOSMI 2008 General Info

1. Eligible participants – People from European Union and Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Lichtenstein. For every module there are 14 positions as for the half of them there are scholarships from Media program of European Commission.

2. Price – 1000Euro per course. If you apply for more than one course, the cost is 800 per course. The price includes accommodations, a meal once a day (lunch), and coffee-breaks. There is an opportunity to apply for a scholarship to cover the expenses.

The traveling is responsibility to the participants.

3. The modules – Every module is 6 days, 8 hours mixed theory and practice. The experience is more than just studying some programs – there are a team work experience and a practical experience for creating a production.

The first module is about 3D with Blender and some other programs, to complete the production cycle, like image processor, video and sound editing and tools for improving collaborative work.

The second module is about distributing media content in Internet. It will cover topics like how to prepare the media for the web(choosing and converting among various formats and settings); server scripting for re-encoding automation; live streaming techniques and e-Marketing. All that using free and open source software.

The third module is for advanced Blender users. It covers the topics like dynamic simulation techniques; creating interactive content; using external rendering engines and their Blender integration; using Python modules and Python scripting; usage of Collaborative software for production optimization and team management; anaglyph and stereo rendering with Blender.

4. Dates and places

  • 1st module – 25-30 May, Thessaloniki, Greece;
  • 2nd module – 2-7 June, Sofia, Bulgaria;
  • 3rd module – 9-14 June, Sofia, Bulgaria.

TOSMI trainers’ workshop

From 27th to 30th of March TOSMI trainers are meeting for a workshop at Papiotis, Thessaloniki to arrange the final details arround the training programme in 2008 and discuss the video manual that will be developed withing TOSMI 08 project.
